Hi guys! Today I wanted to share a review of my very favorite mascara. It the Platinum Waterproof mascara by the Japanese brand Fairy Drops. I am so completely in love with it that I have it shipped all the way from Japan. For a very short time it was sold at Sephora, but now the only way to get it in the US is on Amazon or eBay from Asian sellers. The average price point is $20-$25 which is typical for a higher end mascara.
So what do I like about this product? It advertises volume and curl, and it certainly delivers. But what I find impressive about it is not so much the volumizing, but the incredible ability to curl, lengthen, and separate. I have never found another mascara that can even come close to comparing in those 3 categories. There are other mascaras out there that will give you more volume, but that isn’t really what I look for in mascara anyway (volume is one small step away from clumpiness). Then brush is a little odd; it is curved andhas 3 little balls on it. I think this is partly why it curls so dramatically.
I know a few of you were wondering about just how waterproof it is, so I would like to address that as well. Since I live in such a hot climate and enjoy super sweaty workouts, I always give my waterproof makeup a real run for its money. To give you an example, I have to put primer under any waterproof liquid eyeliner that I use if I want it to not end up all over my face after a run or yoga class. However, I am very impressed with Fairy Drops’ ability to resist water and sweat. I went on a 7 mile hike yesterday and my mascara looked completely perfect afterwards! It doesn’t even come off in the shower so you will definitely need to use makeup remover.
Sometimes I cheat on this mascara with others like Lancome Hypnose out of convenience, but I always end up coming back to Fairy Drops in the end.
What is your favorite mascara of all time? Do you think you will give Fairy Drops a try?
xoxo
