In my day-to-day life, I never wear traditional lipstick. I can’t be bothered to constantly have to worry if it needs reapplication, if it smeared, or if it’s on my teeth. Why even wear it at all if you’re going to be eating? It will be gone after 3 bites of food! Instead, I either wear lip gloss if I’m being super casual or liquid lipstick if I’m going glam. I absolutely LOVE liquid lipstick. It’s so fun how you can reshape your lip line based on what look you want to go for. I like to overdraw my upper lip a little bit and play with the shape of my Cupid’s bow depending on my mood. Precise application like this takes a bit more time than throwing on a regular lipstick, but I think it’s worth that time investment when you know it’s going to last the entire day! Though the majority of the color will stay in place all day, most liquid lipsticks will need to be reapplied just around the waterline after eating.

However, a couple years ago I got hooked on one formula that doesn’t budge even after eating. It’s called LipSense and it is seriously bullet proof! I’m wearing the shade called Party Pink topped with Opal Gloss for this shoot. After shooting these photos, I went out and stuffed my face at a Korean barbecue restaurant and my lips looked EXACTLY the same after I was done eating. While I was eating, it was nice to be sure that I wasn’t smearing my lip color all over my face or having it disappear in gross, uneven patches. This stuff is my go-to for meetings, events, or any social event where I need to look 100% on point and can’t risk any makeup malfunctions. Here are some pros and cons of LipSense:

PROS

Lasts up to 18 hours. For real.
Cruelty free, vegan, and made in the US.
Awesome color selection! There are 36 different shades and several different gloss toppers.
Never transfers or feathers.
Tons of compliments. I literally get asked about them every time I wear them.

CONS

Application is not for the impatient. You have to apply it in 3 thin, even coats and allow time for each coat to dry.
Since it is so insanely long-wearing, it is not easy to remove. You need to be patient and use a generous amount of coconut oil.
If you have dry or chapped lips, it can sting when you apply. I have never experienced this but I have friends who have.

MIXED

LipSense is a product from a company called SeneGence, which is a MLM like Mary Kay or Avon, so you have to purchase from a seller. A lot of them are pushy, so I like to buy from my sweet friend Christie who I know I can trust. While it is annoying to not be able to purchase from a store, it’s nice supporting the female entrepreneurs who sell it.
You have to wear one of the gloss toppers over the LipSense or the color will not stay on. The gloss fades just like regular lip gloss and will need periodic reapplication (for me this isn’t really a con because I love the glosses).
It isn’t cheap but it isn’t super expensive either. The LipSense costs $25 and the glosses cost $20.

If you love long-wearing lippies and don’t mind the slight hassle of application/removal, I really suggest giving this stuff a try!
