Happy Birthday to meeeeee!! Today is my 29th birthday and oh man, I feel old as shit. This year I’ve had an AMAZING birthday though. I’ve been celebrating since Friday, when the festivities began with a delicious dinner at Lawry’s Prime Rib with my dear friend Jess and our hubbies. I’m a pescatarian and Jess and her husband are vegetarians, so a prime rib restaurant was a odd selection for us to make, but I chose it because of their amazing fish and veggie options! Brian was working on Saturday, so I went shopping by myself like a total loser and my mom treated me to some goodies on her credit card. On Sunday, I got together with my beauty blogging besties Jen, Roxy, and Claudia for brunch at Gracias Madre. Then on Monday, my dad flew in for a work conference and we got to spend the evening together before he needed to head to Long Beach. We went out to a nice dinner at Roy’s. It was really special to get to see him the day before my birthday.
I feel SO spoiled this year with all the love and generous gifts I’ve received. One of my very favorite presents were these Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighters that Jen gave me! They are being released this Thursday, March 9, and I feel very thankful to have them early!
Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighters
In true Too Faced form, this trio is perfectly packaged in the most adorable heart-shaped compacts. These babies come in three different metallic shades and each will retail for $30. Blinded By The Light is a warm creamy white, Ray Of Light is a rose gold, and You Light Up My Life is a yellow gold. It is a baked formula, so they aren’t buttery like Becca highlighters. They are more on the dry side, but this does not at all take away from their beautiful pigmentation. For this shoot, I started out by applying Blinded By The Light on my cheekbones, the tip of my nose, under my brows, and on my Cupid’s bow. Then I dusted a little bit of You Light Up My Life over top just to warm up those areas, and also added some to my inner eye corners. For fair skin like mine, I think Blinded By The Light would be the most versatile choice, and You Light Up My Life would be a good second purchase if you like to layer highlighters like I do. For skin tones like mine, I would probably not suggest Ray Of Light or You Light Up My Life to be worn on their own except for as eye makeup. These two would look stunning on anyone with a tan or dark complexion!
What do you think of these new highlighters? Are you going to grab one?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! These are gorgeous highlighters – I really wish Too Faced’s parent company was cruelty-free. I don’t feel good about buying them or Tarte anymore. All of my favorite brands are selling out to people that test on animals.

Thank you Clare! Personally, I believe that supporting animal-friendly companies goes a long way toward the eventual elimination of animal testing. If the parent companies see the successes of their brands who do not test, it’s a win. It’s also a win for the animal-friendly companies to get larger distribution in mass channels by being involved with huge companies. That’s my opinion and the opinion of Leaping Bunny. But of course, it’s not a black and white subject and I completely understand why some don’t agree! 🙂
