It’s really freaking hard to find the perfect foundation. There are so many factors that come into play, and just because it works for your skin does not mean it will work for others’. My top concerns for any foundation are: Does the color range accommodate pale skin? Is it cruelty-free and vegetarian? Does it work well for combination skin? Does it have coverage on the lighter end of medium? Does it clog pores? Does it last all day? Does it contain SPF? As you can see, I really ask a lot from my foundation, and my journey to find the perfect one has been never-ending.
Photo Focus Foundation
I grabbed the new Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation on a whim the other day at CVS but did not expect much. It was only $5.99 from one of my favorite animal-friendly brands, so I figured I might as well give it a shot! However, after applying it, I was surprisingly impressed. I’ve been trying it out for the last few days, this foundation has become one of my very favorites and here’s why:
Color Range
If you are a ghosty babe like me, you know that finding a fair drugstore foundation is practically impossible, especially if you only buy cruelty free. I was shocked to find that the Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation in Porcelain actually works for me. Though I have a neutral complexion and Porcelain is advertised as “warm”, it actually looks natural on me once blended in! As a whole, the color range looks really impressive and offers from very light to very dark.

Bottom – Porcelain partially blended
Look & Feel
Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation is advertised to be high-performing and skin-perfecting, plus it was tested under “seven different photo lighting conditions to deliver flawless camera-ready makeup every time”. As you can see by this photoshoot, I found these claims to be quite true! I find that most foundations either have coverage that is too heavy too light, but this stuff has a true medium but buildable coverage. The finish is very natural and skin-like–not quite satin and not quite matte. I’ve been really into a glowy look lately, so I added a few drops of my Trilogy Rosehip Oil Light Blend while blending it out. One of the only downsides of this product is that it does not contain SPF, but you should always wear sunscreen underneath your makeup anyway!
Longevity of Wear
Plenty of foundations look great right after you apply them, but how they stand the test of time is often a different story. Once again this foundation surprised me when I found that it held up beautifully throughout the day, even after I got a bit hot and sweaty! I found that this product really locked onto my skin, which prevented it from moving around or from wiping off if I touched my face. It’s amazing that it can do this and still not clog my pores!
Final Thoughts
In case you couldn’t tell, I’m really pleased with this foundation. It feels and looks like a much more expensive product. CVS always has coupons, so you may be able to grab one of these for practically pennies! I highly suggest picking on up, especially if you have similar foundation and skin concerns as I do.
