A few days ago I returned from spending a week visiting my mom and brother at their new home in North Carolina. They have a big, beautiful house up in the lush Southern Appalachian Mountains outside Asheville. It is so peaceful and relaxing. There isn’t too much to do other there, but my mom and I had fun shopping, hiking, and sightseeing. I also went running almost every evening on this lovely little grassy trail. Those runs were so perfect and were probably the number one highlight of my trip! Every day I have been wishing I could go back and run.
Another highlight of my trip was wine tasting with my mom at Biltmore Estate. First of all, the 8,000 acre estate is gorgeous and is basically an American version of Versailles. It has a vineyard and they make their own wine there. They offer wine tasting and my mom and I were all over it! I don’t know anything about wine and I don’t even usually like it that much, but the wine expert who was serving us helped me figure out what kind I like (sweet and fruity). Plus, she told me that I have a very refined palette because I was able to distinguish so many of the different subtle flavors.
The last main highlight was discovering this completely unexpected J. Crew clearance store hidden along a random country road. I’d never heard of this kind of J. Crew before, but apparently we stumbled across one out of only two in the entire country! The store is a random assortment of past and current season items from both J. Crew and Madewell. The prices were ridiculously low. Most of the summer shoes were around $15. I scored the Madewell denim romper in this post for only $12. I was so excited to find it because I have been wanting a romper or jumpsuit for around 10 years (yes, seriously), and I have never been able to find one that fits my lanky proportions properly. I love that it is dark denim because it gives off that 70’s vibe that is HUGE for fall! I can’t wait to pair it with booties and a jacket and sweater when the weather gets cooler. In this post, I am wearing it with my favorite leather sandals, my grandma’s antique silver bangles and ring, and my vintage Fendi clutch.
North Carolina was pretty and I enjoyed seeing my mom and brother, but I’m very happy to be back in LA with my hubby and pups!!
xoxo
