On May 3rd of last year, Brian and I said our “I do’s” in an intimate wedding ceremony at Hotel Bel-Air. If you never saw my posts about it, you can check them out here and here! The hotel generously offered to host us for a weekend getaway to celebrate our one year anniversary earlier this month. We were beyond excited to go back and have a romantic little staycation! Hotel Bel-Air is located in the heart of Bel-Air, which is an ultra-luxurious area in Beverly Hills. Surrounded by multi-million dollar mega mansions and lush foliage, the hotel feels like it is many miles away from the city of Los Angeles. The pastel pink walls, endless gardens, and winding paths make you feel like you somehow got dropped into a fairy tale. When we first arrived, our room was not quite ready yet. The hotel manager was extremely apologetic and told us that while we waited, we were welcome to relax in their bar area with drink and snacks on the house. I got an iced latte and a cheese plate, and Brian got a diet Coke and french fries (classy). We honestly could not have been more pleased to have our room delayed! Our room was absolutely magnificent. The best feature was our private patio with a jacuzzi. We had barely settled in when we received a knock on the door, and a hotel employee came in to offer us a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries! He asked me if he wanted me to pop the bottle and I eagerly told him “yes”. I told him I would like to film it for Snapchat. He said that in all his years of working there, only one other person had ever asked him to pop their champagne, and they also wanted to Snap it! I thought that was pretty hilarious. We had about an hour and a half until our dinner reservation, so after Brian and I took these photos, we lounged in the jacuzzi with our champagne and strawberries. It was so luxurious! When it came time for our dinner reservation, we walked over to the Wolfgang Puck restaurant. My favorite part of eating there is always the bread. They offer you a few different kinds, and my absolute favorite is the pretzel bread. When we were working with the staff to put together our wedding reception menu, we made special sure that all these delicious little breads would be given to our guests! For our entrees, Brian and I both ordered the chicken pot pie. It arrives in an enclosed pastry, and the server cuts open the top of it for you, revealing the steaming yumminess inside! I loved the presentation. For dessert we shared raspberry soufflé and chocolate mousse. After we finished eating, we went back to our room to relax. We had basically been eating since we had arrived, so we were super stuffed. We spent the rest of the evening enjoying our fabulous room. When we woke up the next morning, it was time to get ready to check out. I was sad to leave this little paradise. I hope that we can make it an anniversary tradition to revisit the gorgeous place we exchanged our vows. xoxox Emily
