As you guys already probably know, I’m all about finding hair “hacks” that allow me to achieve quick and easy curls without the use of heat. A while ago, I wrote a post about using flexible curling rods (check it out here), but recently I’ve started using a faster method that I like even more. This routine will work best if your hair has some natural texture and/or thickness. Keep reading to see how I achieve the beachy waves featured in this photo shoot!
1. Braid & snooze
Before you go to bed, french braid your dry hair into two pigtails. Optionally, prep your hair with a bit of texturizing spray or leave-in conditioner before you braid for extra definition in your waves. Don’t worry if you aren’t a good braider and they turn out messy, you’re just going to be sleeping on them.

2. Brush ’em out
When you wake up, take out your braids and brush through with your fingers. Check out those waves and volume! If the ends are weird from where the hair ties were, scrunch them with a bit of water and/or texturizing product to blend them with the rest of your waves.

3. A couple curls (optional)
Optionally use a curling iron (I use 1″) on a few random sections to make your look more polished. I usually do the front, one on either side, and one where the pigtails divided the hair in back. In order to create a natural-looking curl, I prefer to wrap my hair around the outside of my curler rather than using the clip.

4. Spray & finish
Finish with hairspray and you are done!

So fast and easy right? Let me know if you try out this styling method and what you think. Check out the links below for my favorite 1″ curling iron and hairspray. Plus my adorable navy BeBop romper (I have it in olive too) and Sugar sneaker flats! This romper is honestly my favorite piece of clothing that I have gotten this season. It is so lightweight, comfortable, cute, and versatile. I love how my beachy waves and white sneaks give this look a fun nautical vibe.

You can try it with regular braids too! The wave just won’t go all the way up to the root 🙂
