On our second second day, we woke up early to go to the Medici Tombs. We ate a yummy breakfast while looking out the window at the sun rising over the city. It was freezing as we walked there so we decided to buy scarves at a stand. I practiced my bargaining skills and tried the walk away tactic but failed miserably. This tactic is where you pretend you are walking away if they don’t accept your price. Brian is a master of getting them to stop him while he is walking out the door! I did get manage to get the price down a few euros though. At the Medici I got to see Michelangelo sculptures for the first time. Then we went to the Uffizi gallery and saw Caravaggio, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Boticelli, Rafael, and so many others. We also climbed the Duomo and enjoyed an amazing view of the entire city. We did more shopping as well. I got a dress, skirt, and top from Max & Co. (my new favorite store which of course is only in Italy) and a dress from a craftsman at a market. Brian got 2 ties from the same craftsman. We had our best dinner yet at super delicious restaurant.
The next day we went to the Academia Galleria and got to see the David. It was absolutely stunning and just unreal to see it in person. Then we took it easy since the day before was so jam-packed. We walked around some shops and ate gelato. I ordered a completely custom leather jacket that I designed on the spot with the tailor. It is being shipped to LA and I am so excited to get it!
Florence was my favorite place we visited on our entire trip. I don’t normally like cities but it is so small, clean, and the architecture is just beautiful. I think my favorite part was the Ponte Vecchio because not only is it lovely to look at from a distance, but it is so fun to walk along it and window shop. That is why I chose to have it as the backdrop of my Florence shoot! I can’t wait to go back one day.

I’m so glad to hear that you guys had a great time in Florence. It sounds so magical and amazing the way you describe it. I’ve never been anywhere cool like this, but it gives me something to aim for. I have serious travel envy right now haha! Also, can’t wait to see the leather jacket you designed! Holy hell, I bet it’s going to be absolutely beautiful. What a great, timeless piece to have that will always remind you of your trip. Such a great idea!
