I have combination skin with a very oily T-zone. I struggle with keeping my makeup in place, especially during these warmer months. I had tried pretty much every oil-fighting primer on the market, but then I heard about an unusual method from a beauty blogger and decided to give it a try. I have been experimenting with this weird beauty hack for a few months now and now it’s time for me to let you in on my little secret.
Are you ready for the big unveil?! My magical makeup primer is Milk of Magnesia. That’s right, I have been slathering a LAXATIVE all over my face. It may sound super weird (and it is), but this unscented white fluid keeps my oil at bay for the entire day. I have even found that after I remove my makeup at night, my pores are drastically minimized and far less clogged. Just like anything else that is ultra-mattifying, this stuff can be drying. If you have dry skin, this product is NOT for you. Because of this, I only apply it sparingly on my most oily areas and also give my skin a break from it once or twice a week. The best part is, a huge 12 oz. bottle is around $4!
How I use it:
With a flat foundation brush, apply a very light layer of the Milk of Magnesia to your oily areas only (Make you use the original unflavored version). A little goes a very long way! Give it a minute or so to dry. It will dry chalky and white. Apply your medium-high coverage BB cream or foundation and blot it into your skin with a beauty sponge. The chalky whiteness will disappear as you blot. You may notice that you need to apply a bit more foundation than you normally do because the Milk of Magnesia absorbs a little of it. If you apply a matte foundation, you will stay matte all day long. If you prefer a dewy look, you can do so without having to worry about the soft shine turning into a greasy mess later in the day. When you’re done with the rest of your makeup, set your face with a dewy or matte setting spray and enjoy having flawless skin!

I do want to state that Milk of Magnesia has not been tested for use on skin, so please be forewarned if you do decide to give it a try.
Do you think you will give this a try? Or is this makeup hack is just too strange?
